The objectives of this program are to help First Nation youth acquire employability skills, assist First Nations secondary and post-secondary students prepare for entry into the labour market, to help students acquire employability skills, and more.

The desired outcome for the Summer Work Experience Program is that secondary and post-secondary First Nation students further their education and acquire employability skills.

All First Nations in British Columbia are eligible to receive an allocated amount and eligible recipients may enter into agreements with private sector and non-profit sector employers to access employment opportunities for youth.
